| Strides not saved to desktopAfter clicking the Launch button on this website and running Strides successfully for the first time, a logo for Strides should appear on your desktop. If it has not, here are a couple of possible causes: your Anti Virus Software may have disabled Java Webstart or Java Webstart has been disabled within your system. The latter of these two is fairly easy to fix. It again involves opening the Java Control Panel. - Click Start
- Select Control Panel
- Click on the Java icon to open the Java Control Panel. Please ensure that you are in the page that displays all Control Panel Items. This may vary, depending on which Windows Operating System you are using.
If there is no Java Icon present you will have no JRE installed in your computer, you will need to visit http://www..java.com to download the latest version of Java.
- On the the Java Control Panel, click on the General tab if you are not there already. Move mouse down to the Temporary Internet Files section and click Settings.
- This should open the Temporary Files Settings dialog. Check (tick) the checkbox that says Keep temporary files on my computer
- Click Ok on both the dialog and the Java Control Panel to close.
- Make sure you are on the General tab. In the temporary files section click View to open the Java Webstart Cache Viewer. Select the Strides program you have installed (Strides Course Design), then move the mouse to the top of the window and click the install shortcuts button (The one with an arrow). Close the Cache Viewer. The Shortcut should now be visible on the desktop.
- If you are still having issues with getting the icon onto your desktop, try checking your security settings and Anti Virus Software. If that fails please contact me and state your issue. Email
