Strides Exercise Series
Episode 1 Gymnastic jumping setting the best distance
Edward Bullock Strides Founder demonstrates how to get the best distance your horse and rider in a grid or gymnastic exercise. Edward then rides 5yr Flash over this grid to show the grid's effectiveness.
Episode 2 How to ride and keep an even rhythm to a pole
Tips on getting a smooth and even stride a pole on the ground.
Episode 3 Use Ground Rails to Improve your horse's technique
Tips on using ground rails in front of a fence to improve your horse's jumping technique. Also includes advice on when and how to set up jumps without a ground rail.
Episode 4 Teach your horse to stretch out in combinations
With combination distance getting set longer than they were a few years ago, this poses problems for horses that have a short stride. This episode gives tips on teaching your horse to reach out to the second element. It is ideal for horses that have a short stride or horses that can be a bit hesitant in combinations.
Episode 5 Jumping session to prepare for a show
Here I demonstrate how I prepare for a show on my 5yr Kiwi Sundance. When preparing for a show the final jumping session can be vital before the event. Too little jumping and your horse feels unprepared and you both feel rusty, too much jumping and your horse feels tired. When making changes or doing a new exercise, your horse may get worse before it gets better, so this is not the time to introduce anything new. You want your horse to be at its best on the day.
